Site History
My web designing history began in 2006 with a cute little icon site called Chibi Tenshi. It was hosted by Freewebs and housed the animated AIM icons and 100x100 avatars I made for Iconator. The name (hopefully) meant "Little Angel" in Japanese ("chibi" meaning "little" and "tenshi" meaning "angel"), but to this day I'm really not entirely sure if that was the case. Chibi Tenshi was your basic first website; tiny fonts, cruddy content and ameteur images overloaded with brushes and copyrighted images. During the summer of '06, I became overwhelmed with all of the layout requests I got and shut the site down without any notice.

During the winter of '06, I created another site out of sheer boredom. This one was called Outcasts Welcome Home. The name came from a song by Less Than Jake called "Welcome to the New South." It was my favorite song at the time and I felt the name fit me and my site perfectly. My range of content expanded; I began to offer pre-made layouts and brushes along with my icons and avatars. I kept OWH much longer than I kept Chibi Tenshi, but I can't say I was any more active with my new site than I was with my previous site. During the summer of '07, OWH was neglected. I updated twice throughout the entire eight-week period.

Towards the end of '07, my friend Vasilios offered me a subdomain. I accepted the offer and moved my site, keeping the name Outcasts Welcome Home (only with my name as the subdomain; hannah.another-perfect-world.org is long enough!). I converted it to PHP and started using CuteNews. My designing skills increased greatly throughout that period of time. I learned a lot about web design and much more about graphic design.

I started noticing around the summer of '07 that a lot of my web buddies had started to buy their own domains and hosting packages. I knew little about all of that, but I felt inferior to them with my (ridiculously long) subdomain. I talked to Vasilios about it, and he offered to host my domain if I payed for the name. Again, I accepted his offer.

The toughest part of switching to my domain was choosing a new name. I had finally realized that "Outcasts Welcome Home" was far too long (and stupid), but I couldn't think of a new name I liked. I decided to do what I did before and use lyrics from my favorite song, which was (and still is) "Look What Happened" by Less Than Jake. My favorite part of the song was this:

And I swear it's the last time, and I swear it's my last try
And we'll walk in circles around this whole block
Walk on the cracks of the same old sidewalks
And we'll talk about leaving town, yeah, we'll talk about leaving
I swear it's the last time, and I swear it's my last try

I (obviously) chose "Leaving Town" as my site's name. I thought it was mysterious and unique. When I told my friends about it, they didn't like it too much. They thought that if I was going to spend actual money on the name, I should've chosen something more personal. I disagreed; I felt that "Leaving Town" was a perfect name that wouldn't grow old.

After a few months of being hosted by Vasilios, my desire to be in charge of myself grew, and I purchased my own hosting package from Holdfire. And, well, here I am today.
